Step 7 - Add Picture

Pictures and graphics can really make a site, as long as they are not overdone. Adding them to your site has never been easier than it is with this program.

First, click on the "Add Picture" icon at the bottom of your screen. Then choose where on the page you want the picture. Now you have many options, so listen closely.

  • Upload - If you haven't uploaded any pictures yet and you want to, click on the "Upload" button. On the next page, click where it says "Browse". Find the picture you want to upload from your computer. If you want to, you can change the name of the file here, too. Then click "Done".

  • My Pictures - After you have some pictures uploaded, you can choose one from the list of uploaded pictures. Just click on the word "Choose".

  • Clipart & Photos - If you don't have your own pictures or graphics to upload to your site, then you can use some of the ones that are offered here. They are completely free to use, and you can place them anywhere on your site.

  1. When you are on the page where you can choose your picture, click on the button at the top of the page that says "Clipart & Photos".

  2. From here you can pick from a wide variety of graphics. Some of the categories are: animations, backgrounds, business, computer, food, medieval, space, sports and many others. Some of the categories even have sub-categories. You are bound to find something you like here. To choose a graphic from here, click on "View Category".

  3. There are two things you can do from here. You can view the graphic to see what it looks like, or you can choose to use it. Once you have clicked on "Choose" the graphic will be added to your page right where you chose to have it added.

If you don't like the way your picture was placed on your pag, there are some things you can change. Click on the "Edit" button next to the picture, and you will be given many options to choose from.

  • Change the picture - If you want to change the picture completely, you can do that here. Click on "Choose a picture from the gallery" or "Upload a new picture now" and do like you did before to choose a picture.

  • Change the size - If you want the picture to be bigger or smaller than it is on your page, then choose the size you want from the list of sizes, and it shall be done.

  • ALT text - What you put on this line is what your reader will see when they hold their mouse cursor over your picture. A little box will pop up with this text in it. This is also what someone who has the graphics on their browser turned off, or someone with an old browser without graphics, will see instead of the picture.

  • Alignment - Do you want text to surround your picture, or do you want the picture to stand on its own? Do you want it on the left or right side of your page? There are several different options here for you to make your page look better. Choose the way you want your picture and the text around it to look from here.

  • Space - If you want some extra space around your pictures so the text is not right up against it, you can do this by entering a number here. You many want to start with something between 3-5, see how it looks and go from there.

  • Link it - Make your picture link to another page. If you do this, your reader can click on the picture and go to another page. Just enter the address of the page you want the picture to link to. The option you have with this link is to have the new page open in the same browser window the reader is already in or open a new browser window to view the page.

When you are finished choosing all your options, click "Done". You will be taken back to your page to view it. If there is still something that needs some tweaking, then click on "Edit" again and start over.
