Step 2 - Point and Type
There are several pages on your blank site. They are different depending on what theme you chose, but editing them all is exactly the same.
The first page you come to will be your homepage. On it you will see different sections and several paragraphs each describing what you can do with that section. Of course, you don't have to do what you are told; after all, it is your site.
Next to each heading, title and paragraph, you will see a little, yellow button that says "Edit". When you are ready to change what is written there, you can click on the button to change it.
After you click on the edit button, you will be taken to a page where you can change the text. Just delete what's already there and type what you want to be there.
- Tip: To delete quickly, click your mouse at the beginning of the text. While still holding the mouse button down, drag your mouse to the end of the text. Once everything is highlighted in blue, let go of the mouse button and hit the "delete" key on your keyboard.
When you are finished changing the text, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the button that says "done". You will be taken back to the page you are editing. Now you can see your work and decide if you like it or not.
Step 3 - Font and Color
If you don't like the way your text looks, you can change that too. Click on the "Edit" button again, and this time scroll past where you typed the text in and you will see some options.
- Font Family - You can choose your font. The choices you have are Arial/Helvetica, Verdana, Times and Courier. You can also use the design's font family, that is the one that is already there.
- Style - Choose how your font will look. Do you want the words bold, italic, underlined or normal? Or you can choose to use the design's font style.
- Size - How big do you want your text? There are seven different sizes to choose from. You can make the words really small, really big or anything in between. Or you can choose the design's font size.
- Color - Don't like the color? Now you have 222 different colors to choose from. Or you can choose to use the design's font color.
- Tip: When changing colors, make sure you can still read the text against the background.
After you have chosen how you want your text to look, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on "done". Then you can see how it looks, and if you don't like it, you can change it again until you get it just right.
