Are Facebook and Twitter Shortening Your Attention Span?

From Linda Roeder, About.com GuideFebruary 26, 2009

Follow me on:

There's been some talk in the news that claim that sites like Facebook and Twitter shorten people's attention span. Our next generation, who are growing up on sites like Facebook and Twitter may never have a chance to have their attentions spans mature past the level of a small child.

Wait, what was I talking about, oh yeah, I remember now.

"My fear is that these technologies are infantilizing the brain into the state of small children who are attracted by buzzing noises and bright lights, who have a small attention span and live for the moment." ~Susan Greenfield

What do you think? I really want to hear some feedback on this one. What has social networking done to your attention span? your kids?
