Important Info & Opinion

This is a really great program for people who want an easy way to create a Web site. It's quick, it's simple and it saves automatically so you never lose your date. Since it also has an HTML option, it is good for the advanced Web designer too.

If at any time you want to look at all the sites you have created, you can click on the icon that says "All My Sites". You will be taken to a page where you can get to all the sites you have created with this program.

If you ever have a question about a certain part of the program, there is help available. Click on the icon that says "Help" and a small scroll screen will come up on the right side of the screen. Here it will tell you about what you are doing at the time and offers an index so you can look up other questions you may have. Just click "Close Help" when you are finished.

    * Important: Everytime you update your site you must click on "Publish again". If you don't then your site won't be updated. The site builder is just a place where you can create your site. If you don't publish it everytime you update it then your readers will never see what you have added to it.

The basic program does have some flaws though. Two have been brought to my attention thus far. One is that there is no way for the designer (you) to enter meta tags for search engine placement. This is not a totally bad thing though. They suggest that you "ensure that your page titles are as relevant to the content of your page as possible as most search engines use this tag in place." Good information and something that you should consider when naming each page.

The other thing that has been brought to my attention is that those of you who use WebTV have been left out of the loop. That is to say that if you use WebTV, you cannot create your Web site here. You used to be able to using the old system that About had, but with this new system you cannot. The really bad news for you is that they don't plan on implementing a way for you to do it anytime soon either. Sorry!

For the rest of you, I hope you really enjoy creating your site here using this new program. When you are finished, I want you to post a link to your new site on my forum so everyone can enjoy your hard work. Good luck!
