Incredible Individuals

From , former About.com Guide

Sunflower's Homepage
I made a webpage because I was bored one day and thought it would be a fun thing to do.

Miftik
Initially, because I wanted to learn HTML. Then as I moved away for school and life, I did it so my family and friends could "keep up" with me as well as vent out some frustrations, ideas etc that I was thinking. It also gives me good practice, because now I have a career, and work on a website for a tv station!

Sean's Scrapbook
I was more interested in sharing ideas and information than in telling people about myself when I set up my homepage. It gives me a chance to publish articles and stories without them needing to appeal to a commercial mass market. I work as a journalist and photographer, so the internet will transform my future career and it was important to me to teach myself the skills needed to publish online.

Q
I initially started my personal site because I wanted to learn html, so it was sort of a fun practice ground where I could try out different coding techniques. As I added more content it evolved into a kind of self-statement, and I started to care about it. I've always hated the term "Vanity Page" and I'm glad it went out of style, because I never wanted to feel like my website was a form of vanity. I wanted my website to be all about my interests rather than to contain a million personal details about me.

Cindy's Flabulous Home Page
I started the site because with the help of my husband, friends and the Internet, I finally began to realize that I could be happy, regardless of my size. I started to see that I didn't have to spend my life beating myself up because I was fat. I realized that being fat wasn't a bad thing and I was not any less because I was fat. I realized that I could be fat and happy, and sexy, and fun, and all kinds of wonderful things.

After years of self-hatred, this realization was incredible!! My life is so much happier now. I wanted to help others reach this same realization and I thought a web page was one good way to do this. Judging from the mail I have received it has helped and that makes me feel absolutely great!! I want everyone to know that they deserve to be happy no matter what their size!!
