Age - How old are you now?
45
When you started your Web site?
42
Marital Status?
Divorced
Occupation - What kind of work do you do?
was a photo lab manager, now a stay home grandma
Hobbies - What do you like to do, besides keep this site?
I like to cook and bake especially for family and friends, read, go
sight seeing, hang out with my kids and grandkids, indulge in amateur
photography and other fun stuff, especially creating web pages.
Location - Where are you from? Where are you now?
I was originally from the Philippines. I left my country in 1975
and had lived in different parts of the country, including Virginia,
Mississippi, California, Hawaii and Texas. I'm currently living in Palisades Park, New Jersey.
Why did you start writing your Web site?
First, I used it as an outlet to life's frustrations, then when
I became a full time grandma, I found myself turning more and more to my web pages to broaden my horizon and express my feelings.
Do you communicate with readers of your site?
Yes, I do. I like writing back to my guests who signed my
guestbook. It gives me great pleasure to know that they enjoyed their visit
and that I touched their life in a positive way.
Has your motivation changed over time?
I'd say my motivation varies depending on the situation and
circumstances, but I don't think it has changed.
How has it changed your life?
It has enriched my life in more ways than one.
Do your friends and family know you keep this site/read it? If so have you had any really negative experiences as a result? If not why?
My children love my site. One of my sons actually signed my guestbook
twice. My daughter shows it off to her coworkers and friends. She also
encourages me. My friends show a lot of interest in them and tell me that
they are impressed. Everyone are very encouraging and positive.
How has your Web site benefited you? Your friends? Or total strangers?
As for me, I feel happy knowing that I make other people happy
with my web site. It gives me great pleasure to hear from friends I know and
friends I still yet to meet.
If you had to do it over again from the beginning, what would you change?
I would learn how to do my own graphics which is my next project.
When looking at other people's Web sites what do you look for as a viewer?
the content of the web site.
What is "one word" that would describe your site?
heartwarming.
Because of your site do you consider yourself a Web celebrity, an exhibitionist, a public figure, a writer, an innovator, or something different?
Not at all. I don't think, no, I know I'm not any of the above. I'm
just plain old me, wanting to make other people happy and if I can do it this
way, then I am blessed.
What are your favorite things on your site?
I don't think I have any favorites. Each of them has its own
character. I love my angels page. But on the other hand, I love what I did on
my page All about Love - lots of feelings and emotions on this page.
Then, there's my Grandma's Pride & Joy, where I bragged about my little angels and showed off a photo of my kids and kids-in-love(law).
And I think everyone should read Desiderata - lots to learn on this one page.
When I lost my mother last year, I was inspired to create a web page for her - For Mommy and also prompted me to put this poem - If Ever You're Going to Love Me on a web page.
I have a friend :-) who is just crazy about strawberries. Just have to have strawberries on top of cheerios every morning, and that's how I came up with the Strawberry Fields Forever web page. I can go on and on, but I should stop now before I bore my readers. :-)
How do you tackle the mechanics of Web design and how do you deal with your frustrations when you can't do what you envision.
I go to a lot of HTML and web publishing help sites, most specially
your site. I also bought this thick book on web publishing. I thought that
was neat (smile), make me feel like I was back in school (grin). It can be
very frustrating, yes. And when it does, I stop and take a break, then I
tackle it again. Most of the time, I succeed to what I want to do.
Why do you think people are interested in you and what you have to say?
I'd like to say it's because I'm sincere and I am. What I put on my
web pages come from my heart. As my arrowhead angel used to say, it's a
"labor of love".
What compels you to design beautiful
pages and to write from the heart (beyond just the usual question of
"why an online journal")?
The best way to express oneself is straight from the heart.....so,
I won't do it any other way.
