Why did you start writing your Web site?
I wanted to learn how to design and create a website as a vehicle for my writing, it grew from there.
Why do you write a site about you?
It's really more about what I create, and how my life is a continuing creative adventure/effort
Has your motivation changed over time?
It fluctuates. Sometimes I get very frustrated with maintaining my site, it becomes a burden, it's really a lot of work for one person. My motivation though is still about wanting to extend my creativity into this new media. The freedom the web gives the creative individual is marvellous.
How has your Web site benefited you? Your friends? Or total strangers?
It's benefited me by offering me as a largely unpublished author (except in small press etc...) another outlet for my work. It's also enlarged my creativity, I've re-discovered my love for all things visual since getting into web design.
If you had to do it over again from the beginning, what would you change?
I'd try and be a bit more focussed. I tend to get carried away with the immediacy of the medium and just upload things for the sheer joy of being able to.
When looking at other people's Web sites what do you look for as a viewer?
Something beautiful and touching. Just as I'd look for in a good book.
What is "one word" that would describe your site?
Quirky
How do you tackle the mechanics of Web design and how do you deal with your frustrations when you can't do what you envision.
I just blunder along, I refer to books or sites on the web to help me with technical difficulties. Or else I look at how other sites have tackled problems. I don't find the technical side easy.
