The Great Web Page Building Adventure

Build Without HTML

From , former About.com Guide

She clicks on the link to build her first Web page using the Web page building program. What kind of page should she build and what should she call it? She picks the options for "personal page." The name she picks for her site is "Corey's Place." "Not very original," she thought, "but I can always change it later when I get the hang of this."

When she gets to the next page she is amazed at how easy this is. All she has to do is pick what she wants to change and change it. First she choses to change the theme and background. She clicks on "change" in that area and is brought to a place where she can change the color of the page, the type of page, and the picture on the page. The only thing she wants to change here is the color so she picks one she likes and clicks "Done." That's it, the background is now a different color.

She goes through the rest of the page the same way. She changes the headline, text and links. She doesn't change the picture because she didn't have any of her own yet. Then she clicks on "Save Page" and then "Continue."

This is what her new page looks like

Basic HTML Tags

Corey is proud of herself. She just made her very first Web page all by herself and all in just a few minutes. Now she wants to try to create one using HTML. She goes back in and clicks on "Use The HTML Editor." She is now promted to give her page a name so she names it "Hello."

Now that she has looked over all the information she gathered she is starting to understand how HTML works and what she is supposed to do. The first thing she has to do is put in the basic tags that her page needs.
