When you started your online diary?
1996
Marital Status?
married
Occupation - What kind of work do you do?
eSupport Projects in large telecom company.
Hobbies - What do you like to do, besides keep this diary?
cooking and the history of gastronomy. I walk and do some amateur nature photography. I am interested in psycho-sociology, sociology of marketing, state of the world, and theology.
Location - Where are you from? Where are you now?
Why did you start writing your diary online?
always wanted to be a writer. was never any good at it but now i realize that it doesnt have to be good, it just has to reflect what i feel.
Do you communicate with readers of your diary?
Yes.
How much email feedback do you recieve from your diary? Is it mainly positive or negative?
Some regulars comment regularly, others from time to time. I assume most people can't even figure out what I am talking about, and others interpret it for themselves. So I would say the feedback is mostly neutral.
Have you met any new friends because of the diary?
Oh yes, many.
Has your motivation changed over time?
Yes, undoubtedly. In the beginning I was waiting to be discovered. Now I am still waiting but realize that it may only happen once I am gone or in many many years from now.
How has the diary changed your life?
Do your friends and family know you keep this journal/read it? If so have you had any really negative experiences as a result? If not why?
Most people know that I keep it but do not read it. they are not the kind of people who would read online diaries, no matter who wrote it. no negative experiences, since I always cloud anything that could potentially taken as insult in a veiled prose.
How has the diary benefited you? Your friends? Or total strangers?
It's a life work, an accomplishment. It's a few moments of meditation each morning. Total strangers have been comforted by it, one woman thought I was the Holy Spirit. People can take my words for their own and use them as solace.
Has your diary ever gotten you in trouble? If so, how? Scenerio: If you were wronged by a person that you know reads your diary, would you bash them anyway? What about family? What about co-workers?
No. Would never do such a thing. Comletely against my grain to intentionally say something mean. Do unto others.
Do you have any favorite entries?
Too many to list...
What do you look for in an online journal, as a reader?
thoughts, analyses, true emotions
Do you use your real name in your diary?
no.
Do you censor yourself in your diary?
yes.
Do you ever use fiction techniques such as imaginary dialogue?
all the time.
Do you ever significantly edit/rewrite past entries?
never.
Would you describe your diary as traditional, essay, novel, rant, letter to someone, a theme journal, or something different?
all of the above and more. although i would like to think it a great literary work, i fully realize that primarily it is a historical work.
What is "one word" that would
describe your diary's content?
me.
As an online diarist do you consider yourself
a Web celebrity, an
exhibitionist, a public figure, a writer, an innovator,
or something
different?
historian in the making.
How do you tackle the mechanics of Web
design and how do you deal with your frustrations when you can't do what
you envision.
gave up a LONG time ago. it takes too much time.
Why do you think people are interested
in what you have to say?
because i am free with my thoughts.
What compels you to design beautiful
pages and to write from the heart (beyond just the usual question of
"why an online journal")?
hard to know.
