MySpace Music lets you purchase music for download for a very small fee. How small depends on how much the independent artist wants to sell their music for. The sale of music on MySpace is all about the independent artist. Since the independent artist themselves are doing the music sales, MySpace won't have to worry about copyright laws getting in their way.
In a partnership with Snocap, started by the founder of Napster Shawn Fanning, MySpace music is in a great place for music sales on the Internet. Snocap has the technology and MySpace has the Music.
Purchase Songs From MySpace Music
MySpace claims to have over 70 million members. Any of these MySpace members can use the MySpace music service to purchase songs. Songs can be purchased from anyone's MySpace Music playlist, or by searching for the song you want to buy.

MySpace members can also add songs from MySpace music into their MySpace profiles and create their own playlists. Adding songs to your MySpace profile playlist is easy to do and only takes a few minutes.

How Much?
The musician will be able to set the price of their songs for however much they think they want to sell it for, unlike Apple who sells all songs for the same price. The musicians who sell their songs on MySpace will be able to set their price and change it when they want to. When someone purchases one of their songs, MySpace and Snocap keep a small service fee, the musician gets the rest.
Once they have sold some songs the musician is in a better position to contact music labels and maybe get their music into the mainstream. Whether major music labels will care is yet to be seen.
The Problem
All music posted to MySpace music will be in MP3 format. This may be a deterrent to some musicians as Digital Rights Management won't be included. Digital Rights Management is a restriction on how songs can be copied and played.
What this means to the musician is that their music could be bought from MySpace and then uploaded to any of the illegal file sharing service on the Net, and they would have no recourse.
