Scrabulous has been wiped from the face of Facebook, at least for those of us in the US and Canada. In case you're wondering why Scrabulous was taken off Facebook, it was Hasbro. Hasbro sent a cease and desist letter to Facebook about Scrabulous over copyright infringement. I guess the creators of Scrabulous didn't make the game different enough from Scrabble.
What's your opinion on the Scrabulous saga?
Anyway, other Scrabble based games are popping up, and some games similar to Scrabulous already exist on Facebook. There are also lots of word games on Facebook. Here are some Scrabulous alternatives that you can play on Facebook.
- Scrabulous Homepage - This first one's not on Facebook, but it is the homepage for Scrabulous. Even if you can't play Scrabulous on Facebook, you can still play it here.
- WordScraper (the new Scrabulous) - Rumor has it that Scrabulous still exists on Facebook. Here's proof. WordScraper showed up on Facebook right after Scrabulous was taken off, or so the story goes. It's strikingly similar, but just different enough not to actually be Scrabulous. Kind of like Scrabulous in disguise.
- Scrabble - Play the real thing, not Scrabulous, but Scrabble. The original Scrabble game from Hasbro is now on Facebook for you to play.
- Word Shuffle - Create words that are between three and five letters. If you find a five letter word you're eligible to go to the next level. If you find all the words you'll get extra points.
- Word Twist - Find all the words you can within the hidden letters.
- Word Cube - Make words out of the letters on the cube.
- Word Womp Dash - Try to create more words than your friends before your time runs out.
- Guess the Word - Can you guess what this word is? Can you do it in three minutes?
- Word Search - Try to find the words among all the jumbled letters. You know this one, you probably played it when you were young.
- Word Challenge - Solve the words and win the challenges. Animated characters and awards to make game play more fun.
- Wack a Word - Unscramble the words by clicking on the animals.
- Word Chain - Change one letter in the word, then change another letter to make another word. Soon you'll have created a word chain.
- WordMix - Unscramble the words as fast as you can. What does "M S I E N A R" spell?
- WordKill - It's Tetris meets Scrabble. Form words as fast as you can to keep the letters from filling the whole screen.
