Web Sight with SitePoint
Design, Promote and Make Money

From , former About.com Guide

If what you want to do is build a Web site, make money from your site and promote your site, then SitePoint has the tools and the advice you will need to do it. The site is broken down into five major parts: Build, Profit, Promote, Tools and Forums.

Under each of these sections you will find many articles that will help you do what you need to do. On the left side of the screen you will find a break down for that section. When you click on one of those, you will get even more help. At the bottom of the page are forum discussion where you can ask questions and get advice.

If you are in the "Build Your Site" section and click on "Getting Started", you will find articles to help you learn the basics of many different aspects of building a Web site. Also in this section you will find help with design and coding, help managing your site, tutorials, reviews and links to other places on the Web where you can get help.

If you want to make money on the Internet, then you should check out the "Profit" section. Here you will find help with getting started, boosting revenues and managing operations. There is also information on affiliate programs and reviews on all sorts of things that can help you with ecommerce.

Do you want people to be able to find your site? Then you need to promote it. In the "Promote" section you will find all sorts of help with this. Learn the different ways there are to increase traffic to your site and get tips and tricks to help get your site ready. Find out about link swaps, search engines and building a community.

If you like free then try the "FREE Things" section here. You can get free downloadable programs, counters and trackers, and online tools to help you promote your site. Also add a discussion group or newsletter to your site.

Now go to the "Free Web Tools" section for more free stuff. There are many fun, free tools for you to use here to help you gather information about your visitors, create a community, register a domain name, add graphics to your site, check for dead links, add news and much more.

The "Log Analysis" found in the "Free Tools" section will tell you all sorts of information about the visitors that come to your site. Not only will you be able to tell how many people are coming to your site, but you will also be able to find out where they are coming from, where they are going and what operating system they are using (ie. Win 95, Win 98, Linus, Beos).

Don't let your site fall victim to dead links. Use the link checker that they offer and never let your readers go nowhere again.

Add a search box to your site so people can search your site or the Web. Add news to your site so your readers will always be kept up to date on the latest. There are so many things you can add to your site in the "Free Tools" section, you could be here for weeks.

If you have a Web site or are just thinking of creating one, this is a site you need to check out. Go through all they have to offer and see what they have that you can use.
