Why did you start writing your Web site?
To learn how to do html and to display stuff on line for our family and friends.

Why do you write a site about your family?
Because our extended family is scattered all over the world and this is a great way to keep everyone updated.

Why do you post pictures of your children on your site?:
They like to have their friends visit their pages and see photos of parties and school activities. Also, since the pictures can be downloaded, it makes it easier to share them.

Do you discuss your children on your site? Why or why not?
yes ... they have their own pages and it gives them opportunities to learn how to do web design. They are tuned in to the possibility of internet predators, but we are not going let them intimidate us to the point we can't enjoy using the internet.

Do you and/or others in your family communicate with readers of your site? :
We have a guest book ... most we get comments that do not require a response.

How much email feedback to you recieve from your site? Is it mainly positive or negative?
We have only gotten positive feedback so far.

Have you met any new friends because of the site?
Yes ... I have met some relatives that I didn't know about because they found the site searching for the family name and geneaology.

Has your motivation changed over time? :
No, this is just a family forum.

Do your friends and family know you keep this site/read it? If so have you had any really negative experiences as a result? If not why?
Most of our friends and family have visited the site ... we only get negative responses if we haven't updated recently.

How has your Web site benefited you? Your friends? Or total strangers?
Great for family communication. Have had some strangers visit, but they have all been friendly and positive.

If you had to do it over again from the beginning, what would you change? :
Not much really ... it's an ongoing learning experience and I think the site gets better as we learn more.

What are your favorite things on your site?
The family history and old photos.

What do you look for in an personal Web site, as a viewer?
I like to feel like I've paid a visit and was had a good time. Like to see what their interests are and log a nice entry in their guest book if they have one.

What is "one word" that would describe your site?
family

Because of your site do you consider yourself a Web celebrity, an exhibitionist, a public figure, a writer, an innovator, or something different?
We're just a family that loves the internet.

How do you tackle the mechanics of Web design and how do you deal with your frustrations when you can't do what you envision.
There is so much free help available online, you can learn almost anything you want to know.

Why do you think people are interested in your family, what they do, and/or what they have to say?
Most people that visit our site that we haven't given the site address are people who are interested in the family history/geneaology. But several have commented that they enjoyed exploring the site.

What compels you to design beautiful pages and to write from the heart (beyond just the usual question of "why do you write a Web site?")
Our designs are not that "creative" at this point, but we do it because it's FUN.
