Keep Track Of Your School Year
For Students, Teachers and Parents

By , About.com Guide

Whether you are a student, a teacher or a parent, creating a personal Web site to record your school year will be a fun and memorable event. School is important so why not write down all your memories on a personal Web site. There are many reasons why a personal Web site could be helpful to you now or in the future.

If you are a teacher you can post lessons for your students to follow along with at home. If you are a parent you can keep track of the work that your children are doing, the grades they are getting and the friends they are making. If you are a student you can write about what you do in class, on the playground and after school with your friends.

There are many benefits to writing and keeping track of events, thoughts and feelings. Some of these benefits are things like being able to look back at a later date and reminisce about what happened. Other benefits are health related. Here are some reasons why you should keep a Web site to help you keep track of your school year.

Stress Relief - It has been shown that writing, especially journal writing, is a great way to relieve stress. It allows you to get rid of any bad or overwhelming feelings you may have from the things that happened to you that day. By putting your thoughts and feelings down on paper, or in this case up on the Web, you leave them there instead of carrying them around with you and having them cause you undo feelings of hostility bringing down your stress levels.

Organize - Create a list of things you need to get done. If you are a teacher you can make a list to help you remember what things you want to include in your lesson plans. You could even keep a copy of your lesson plans on your site for future reference.

If you are a parent maybe you could remind yourself of special events that are coming up. Maybe you can make a copy of the soccer schedule and add it to your site so you never forget when games and practices are. Or you could create after homework assignments for your child to complete. This is good for children who need extra help or for children who want to excel and learn more than what is provided for them at school.

If you are a student you can keep a journal of what happens each day at school. Then whenever you want to remember which day something happend all you have to do is refer to your site. You can also keep track of when assignments are due and keep a list of materials you will need to complete those assignments on time.

Keepsake - Some day you will want to look back on these days. You may not think so now but these are days that you will always treasure. If you write about your best friend or the day you got an a on the spelling test and then read about it years later

Set Goals - Tell yourself what you want to accomplish in the future. If you are a teacher maybe you came up with an idea to help your students learn their subject better. If you are a parent maybe you have an idea on how to get your children to do their homework without a fight. If you are a student maybe you need to get books from the library or you have thought of a way to keep notes so that you can remeber them better.
