By Linda Roeder, About.com

If you want to design Web pages, but don't know anything about it, this book is for you. If you know a lot about Web design, but want to know more, this book is for you. No matter what level you are at, you will find something here for you.

This book, amazingly, has everything you need to learn to design Web pages, but is not dumbed down at all. The chapters are short and the descriptions concise. This makes learning very quick and very easy.

In the beginning of the book you will learn all there is to know about HTML tags and how to put them together on a page. All the tags are here and placed in easy to understand groups. By the time you are finished with the HTML section of the book, you will be an expert.

Now you are ready for the fun stuff; graphics and links. These are the things that give your readers a reason to come back to your site. Adding graphics to your site, and making them look the way you want them to, will make your site look better and will make you feel better about your site. Change the borders around your graphics, the height and width, the position, the way the text around it looks and more.

Then start adding links. Add links to other sites, pages within your own site or other places within the same page. You can also turn your graphics into links. How to create imagemaps is also taught in this chapter. They are a fun way to have your readers navigate your site.

Ready for the more advance things? Sure you are, or at least you will be after reading the book. Next comes tables and frames. When you are finished here you will be ready to create anything. With the functionality tables and frames add to your site, your readers will be able to find everything they need.

Color is what makes the world look good and it's also what makes your pages look good. Don't miss the chapter that addresses this or you will be doing an injustice to your readers. Make your site look good and stand out at the same time and don't use the wrong colors or your site will look really bad.

Did you ever want to make your own graphics? Now you can learn how. You will get tons of tips on what makes a graphic a good graphic and what makes it look good on the Web. Then you will learn to make them look different and change them to be what you want them to be.

Now that you are an expert, there are a few more things you will need to know. What makes a good Web site? There are some things you should do and some things you should never do. To much of a good thing can turn out to be a bad thing so make sure you read through all of this to make sure you don't do too much.

Some other things you may want to know are Cascading Style Sheets, JavaScript and DHTML. There is a brief overview of these in the back of the book too. Now you will know how Web designers do the fun things you see on Web sites.

Throughout this book you will also see how some things are done using Dreamweaver, FrontPage and Golive. This way you don't really have to know HTML, but it does help.

Overall, this book is a very easy read and will have you creating Web pages for yourself, your friends and anyone else that needs one, in no time. I recommend this book to anyone and everyone who has ever thought of creating a Web site.
