By Linda Roeder, About.com

If you like to learn something one step at a time while being entertained with jokes and tips along the way, then this is the book you need to learn JavaScript. There are also eye-catching icons throughout the book to help you find tips and warnings. The author takes you through the process of learning this Web language with several easy steps.

First, she begins by explaining what JavaScript is and what you can do with it. Then she goes on to show you some of the basic things you can do and how to do them, providing examples along the way. You will learn what Objects are and how they can be used, and before you know it, you will be ready for the good stuff.

By the time you get to Chapter 10 you will get the feeling that this really is something you can do! This chapter gets you right into the heart of the script. At the end of the book, there are chapters to help you find errors and fix them easily. You'll get to see what the top ten mistakes are when working with JavaScript so you don't make them. When you are done with this book you will be able to do anything, and maybe more.

A CD comes with the book so you can exercise the examples in the book without having to type them in yourself. It also has several software programs that may be useful when creating your Web site.
