By , About.com Guide

This is really something special! Six books all on one CD-ROM and "Web Design in a Nutshell" for your desktop reference. The six books on the CD are:
Web Design in a Nutshell, 2nd Edition

HTML & XHTML: The Definitive Guide, 4th Edition

Cascading Style Sheets: The Definitive Guide

    ActionScript: The Definitive Guide

Information Architecture for the World Wide Web

Designing Web Audio: RealAudio, MP3, Flash, and Beatnik

These are all really great books that will help you learn Web site design from start to finish. Not only will you learn to create Web pages, you will also learn to create databases and style sheets and add multimedia to your site such as audio and video.

If you are like me and feel as thought you are not accomplishing anything unless you are doing it on a computer, then books on CD are perfect for you. I have started reading through them and find them to be easy reading. The funny thing is that if I have the same exact book in book form then I tend to flip through the pages instead of actually reading them. This works better for me.

The whole CD is searchable. You can find anything in all 6 books using the search index included on the CD. All you have to do is type in your key words and click "search". There is also a master index included so you can look for items yourself in alphabetical order. All 6 books included are very good and when you are finished with them all you will be a Web design expert.

Web Design In A Nutshell, 2nd Edition

This is the first book in the series for a very good reason. It gives you an overview of what Web design really is. It shows you all the basics that you need to know to create a Web site.

Not only does it teach basic HTML but it also goes over how to add images, creating frames, tables and forms. There is also a section on Cascading Style Sheet which is something you need to know theses days to design a good site.

After you have all the basics down the book goes on to teach you about the different types of graphics formats that you can use on a Web site. Then it will teach you how to add audio, video and other multimedia.

The back part of the book will begin to teach you some more advanced Web design such as JavaScript, DHMTL and XML. To start taking your site to a level beyond that of a static page you will need to know how to use these types of codes too.

HTML & XHTML: The Definitive Guide, 4th Edition

HTML is the basis for creating Web pages. If you don't know it you won't be able to create Web pages with spunk. This is one of the best books on the market for learning HTML. Along with HTML it also teaches XHTML. This is the code you need to learn to make your pages more standard. Using XHTML on your site will make changing something that is on all your pages very easy. You will also be able to create databases and more.

Designing Web Audio

Sound! Lots of people add sound to their personal Web pages. Whether it be a greeting or music this book will help you learn to create your own audio files and add it to your site.

Cascading Style Sheets: The Definitive Guide

CSS will help you add interactive things, like forms, to your site. You can commmunicate with your readers and do it all on your own. This book makes it all so simple you will be doing it in no time.

ActionScript: The Definitive Guide

ActionScript is another language to help you add fun and exciting things to your site that make it stand out and get noticed. If you want a site that makes people say, "Wow!" then this is the book you need.

Information Architecture for the World Wide Web

This book will help you understand the structure of a Web site from the inside out. When you know what makes your site tick you will be able to keep it ticking longer and better.
