Choosing a good title for your site is one of the most important things you will have to do when creating your Web site. Names are very important. What's in a name? They tell people who you are, what your site is about and what kind of person you are.
If you choose a name for your site that is boring then people will think your site is boring and will not visit it. If you choose a name for your site that is exciting or mysterious then people will be more likely to visit just to see what is there.
Don't give your site a name like "My Homepage" or "Dave's Place On The Web". These are boring and don't give the reader anything to look forward to. Try something like "Mad In Pursuit". This title makes you wonder what the site is about and leaves a lot to the imagination.
Think about something in your life or about you that is different. Then go to your thesaurus and find a word that fits you but at the same time is different and interesting. Or find out what the meaning of your name is and use something that defines you.
For the purpose of this tutorial we will think of a name for the site I am creating. If I were creating this diary for myself I think I would call it "Spirited Insanity, Loquacity and Endearment". These are terms to describe my three boys but to someone seeing this in a search engine they would not know that and would want to know more. I suppose Loquacity may not be the best word to use because it is not a commonly used word but it is the word I found that best describes my oldest son and therefore the word I have chosen to use.
Another thing you may want to think about when naming your site is keywords. What you put in the "title" section at the top of your page is very important to search engine placement. Try to use words that will help someone find your site when they are searching through the millions of Web pages that are out there. Use words that are descriptive.
You can name your site anything you want, after all it is yours. If you found something that makes you feel good don't let anyone tell you it's wrong. It's yours and you can call it what you want.
