• Designing Online
If you would rather design your site on your computer while you are offline then you can do this too. This is good for people who have to pay hourly for their Internet service and for those that have only one phone line and don't want to keep it busy all the time while they are creating their site or for those who would just rather keep their files on their own hard drive until they are ready.
As discussed earlier, you have a couple different options as to what editor to use. You may want to try a couple different ones to find the one that works best for you. They are as individual as people and just because your friend likes a certain one that doesn't mean that you will like it too. The more comfortable you are with your editor the easier it will be for you to create your site.
Once you have decided which editor to use you can begin creating your pages. Just open an empty new file and begin filling it in with the information you want on your Web page. If you're program offers templates you can start with one of those to make it even easier to get started. If you decided to use an HTML based editor then you will need to add the code to create your page. If you decided to use a WYSIWIG editor then you will just need to fill in your text and go from there.
Don't forget to add links to your pages. Linking is one of the most important things you can do on your site. They really do add content and something for your visitors to look through. Speaking of content don't forget to add that too. Adding real text to your site is the most important thing you can do. Without it no one will have a reason to ever come back to your site.
After you have created your pages you need to get them online. This is where the FTP program comes in. If your hosting service offers a file upload feature then you will not need FTP. If they don't then they will have to give you an address to fill in to your FTP program along with a username and password so you can get your site to their server.
That's all there is to it. See, not as difficult as you thought. So get started. What are you waiting for?
