Scan Photos and Save Photos
Scan Photos, Add Them To Your Web Pages

By , About.com Guide

If you don't have a digital camera then you may be at a loss as to how to get your photos onto your Web site. It's really very simple actually, scan photos. All you need to scan photos is a scanner or a photo scanner and a graphics or photo editing program.

The first thing you need to do is scan your photo using your scanner. The photo will then be seen on your computer. Save the photo to a special folder so you can find it later and give it a unique name so you will know which photo it is.

Now it's time to upload it to your Web site. You can do this using an FTP program or with the file upload program that comes with your hosting service. Then you can add it to your Web site.

Tips For Scanning and Uploading Photos

Scan to the Right Size - A good size for an online photo is 640x480 or 800x600. If you are going to put them on your Web site I would go with the smaller size so you don't take up a lot of space. If you can only scan in one size then you will want to resize your photos before uploading them. To resice or crop your photos you will need a graphics or photo editing program.

Lay Photo In The Right Direction - I know this sounds simple but I've seen sideways and even upside down photos online. Make sure you are laying them the right way or you'll have to flip them later.

Get The Right Scanner For Your Needs - Not all scanners are created equal. Some do different things than others. Make sure you get the right scanner for what you are going to need it for.
