Blogg Podcasting Hosting Service

Host Your Podcasting Blog

By Linda Roeder, About.com

Use a Podcasting Hosting Service If you'd rather have your podcasting blogs hosted on a podcasting hosting service I recommend Liberated Syndication. For $5 per month they offer you 100MB of space to store your podcasts. If you want something bigger you can get that too. Their price page goes up to 800MB of space for $30 per month. If you want to try it out first you can try if for free to see if it's for you. If you sign up for an account you can place a link to it on your Web site and your readers can sign up to receive notice whenever you update it.

After you have signed up and signed in with your username and password you will be asked to do 3 things to set up your site. First you will need to set up your podcast, then you will need to upload your sound file(s), and lastly you will need to post your sound file so other people can hear it.

To set up your podcast go to "blogsettings" from the menu at the top. Fill out the form telling about your podcast Web site. Give your new site a title and a description. Put your name, or made up name if you don't want to use your real name, add your copyright information and add a category for your site. Also mark whether you want your podcast site listed in the libsyn directory or not.

On the next page, after you save your settings, you can click on "view your blogpage" to see what your page will look like. To add new posts click on "podcast / blog" and fill out the form. Your new post will then be added to your site. You can add podcasts from here or you can just add text posts if you want.

When you're ready to add your sound files go to "media files". Then click on "Upload Media" from the menu on the left. Choose your sound file from your computer. If your file is larger than 50MB or you want to upload more than one you will need to use FTP. They provide instructions for this.

Once your sound files are uploaded go to "podcast / blog" and post them. You can add a description of your sound file and a date for it too.

Place the link to your new blogpage on your personal Web site. Now your readers can sign up to receive your posts when you create new ones. If you want to see how many people are subscribed to your blog or how many people have downloaded your entries you can do so from the "settings" page.
