Name Of Site: The Artwork of Jin Wicked
URL: http://www.jinwicked.com/
If you had to do it over again from the beginning, what would you change?
I don't think I would change anything, at least not regarding my site. It's kind of evolved into what it is now over the last three years or so, and I've learned something with each change I've made.
What are your favorite things on your site?
The art galleries, since that's what the whole site is about, really. But it's hard for me to play favourites with the things I make; it's like asking a parent which of their kids they like the best. Each one is different and you love different things about them. It's an impossible choice to make sometimes.
When looking at other people's Web sites what do you look for as a viewer?
Pictures pictures pictures. I love seeing the people behind the pixels. I also love to see other creative sites with lots of unique content.
What is "one word" that would describe your site?
Hmm... monochrome? One word is tough. I'd have to say "simple..." possibly straightfoward. I try to keep my site designs intuitive and not cluttered up and confusing.
Because of your site do you consider yourself a Web celebrity, an exhibitionist, a public figure, a writer, an innovator, or something different?
I've been *called* a web celebrity. I don't know if I am one. Maybe a very minor web celebrity. (Though I definitely won't complain if a few more people know who I am...)
How do you tackle the mechanics of Web design and how do you deal with your frustrations when you can't do what you envision.
Like I mentioned, I like to keep it simple, so I don't run into this problem much.
Why do you think people are interested in you and what you have to say?
I think in a society where we have so much monoculture; big companies telling people what to do, say, and like, a lot of people find it refreshing to see a little person out on their own kind of doing their own, original thing. I try to let people see not just the artwork, but kind of get to know the person behind it. I want to be accessible.
What compels you to design beautiful pages and to write from the heart (beyond just the usual question of "why write a Web site")?I want to share my artwork and thoughts with anyone who'd like to listen. I like to hope that something I've done makes someone smile, or think about something new, or give them a bit of inspiration. I make enough money selling the originals that I can also afford to offer a bit of an online sanctuary from the advertisements, banner ads and things like that that tend to be so ubiquitous. My site is completely ad-free, and free, and I intend to keep it that way.
