(About.com) INTERESTS & HOBBIES SITE PROFILE

Name Of Site: Elle's Web Pages
URL: http://www.growley.com/

If you had to do it over again from the beginning, what would you change?
If I had to do it over, I would begin earlier! I would have learned Java/JavaScript before now.

What are your favorite things on your site?
"The Men Who Went Up Instead of Coming Down"

Christmas

La Purisima Mission

When looking at other people's Web sites what do you look for as a viewer?
I look for something "they" have created. Links to other people's work is good; however, if the author of the site has nothing of their own to offer, I will probably not be back.

What is "one word" that would describe your site?
Because my site is eclectic, there is no one word to describe it. I do think it offers something for almost everyone.

Because of your site do you consider yourself a Web celebrity, an exhibitionist, a public figure, a writer, an innovator, or something different?
I consider myself an American who is also a citizen of the world. The internet offers us the opportunity to share a bit of our lives, our interests, our problems, our hopes with the world at large.

How do you tackle the mechanics of Web design and how do you deal with your frustrations when you can't do what you envision.
I write my own HTML. Of course, like most people, I started out with Frontpage; however, the html became so screwy and convoluted, that I abandoned it almost immediately. I did graduate to DreamWeaver; however, I actually don't feel much more positive about DreamWeaver. I like being able to write my own HTML, and feel like I achieve the best results from it. I do, however, use either DreamWeaver or Frontpage to throw up a very quick prototype of how I want a page to look... and then I start from scratch to create it in HTML.

Why do you think people are interested in your interest or hobby and what you have to say about it?
When I do something, I try to do it well. I think it makes it far more interesting for my readers, and, of course, I try to be accurate in what I have put in.

What compels you to design beautiful pages and to write from the heart (beyond just the usual question of "why write a Web site")?I write a web site to maintain my sanity. It gives me an appropriate source to respond to my world.
