The two affiliate companies that seem to be among the most popular are Commission Junction and LinkShare. The are both very easy to use and give you a lot of information to help you choose which programs you want to sign up for.
When you sign up with one of these affiliate companies they will ask you for personal information. They have to do this because they will be paying you money based on the commission you make from the programs you sign up for. You will need to provide your address, phone number, social security number as well as some other information. They also require that you send them a W-9 so they can report your income to the IRS.
Think About Commission
When deciding which programs to sign up for you will want to look as different factors. We already discussed matching the programs to your site information to get people to click through. The next thing you will want to look at is what percentage commission the company is willing to pay you. Most of them are between 5% and 10%. Some of them pay more and some pay less. A few of them also have bonus' that you might be able to qualify for.
Commissin Junction gives you more information than just what the commission percentage is. They also show you how good each company is at making their payments and what the average payouts are. With all this information you can make an educated decision which programs you want to add to your site.
