Hit Counter

By Linda Roeder, About.com

Definition: A number on a Web page that indicates how many people have visited that page. This can just be a number or can be a number inside a box. If it is a script that has been given the Web site owner for their use then there is often the name of the Web site who designed it on it.
Examples: I put a hit counter on my site so I'll know how many pages people are looking at.
