Definition: Many Web sites these days have banners at the tops of them. These are those 1" X 7" advertisements you see at the top of the page. These are the main source for Web sites to make money and are extremely prevalent.
You can get banners from a number of sources or make your own. If you sign up for an affiliate program so you can make money from your site you will probably be given a banner to add somewhere on your page. They do not have to be placed on the top but since that is the part of the page most people see the most this is probably the best place for them.
