One meme that swept the Internet last week apparently started with a Facebook post accompanying a newborn baby photo, with the following caption, "Hashtag Jameson was born at 10 oclock last nite. She weys 8pounds and i luv her so much!!!!!"

Facebook Page for "Hashtag Jameson"
The mere idea of a mother naming her baby after the Twitter #hashtag symbol was so startling that news of the "Hashtag Jameson" baby quickly went viral on the Internet. It even drew write-ups from traditional news organizations, which wrote all kinds of articles about the Hashtag baby even though there appeared to be no confirmation that such a baby actually existed.
A few news stories expressed skepticism about whether Hashtag Jameson existed and questioned if the posting could be a hoax, but most accepted the Facebook post as real without confirming interviews or other supporting facts.
Unless the Hashtag Mommy steps forward soon to identify herself, it's a good guess that Baby Hashtag could be headed for the urban legend archives.
