If you've got a favorite new Web tool or mobile app deserving of kudos, consider nominating it for the 2012 Crunchies Awards.
The annual awards honor Internet startups and technology innovation. Nominations are open to the public through Thursday, December 6. You can submit your nominations in 20 categories online here.
Last year's winners included Apple's Siri for best technology innovation, Evernote for best mobile application, Pinterest for best new startup, Path 2.0 for best design, Words With Friends for best time sink, Twitter for biggest social impact and Dropbox for best overall startup. VentureBeat lists all the 2012 categories and 2011 winners in its article describing the sixth annual Crunchies.
There are several new categories this year, including best education startup, fastest rising startup, best e-commerce application and best content discovery application. Another new award genre is best collaborative consumption service, meant to honor a service "built on social relationships."
The Crunchies are sponsored by three popular technology publications: GigaOm, VentureBeat, and TechCrunch. Finalists will be announced in early January, and the awards ceremony will be held January 31 in San Francisco.
