As MySpace struggles to regain its footing, the social network is exploring the creation of a paid music subscription service for its MySpace Music venture.
In a statement made to CNET, MySpace Music head Courtney Holt quelled rumors of a paid subscription for the currently free feature on MySpace, yet reports the company is "always exploring new monetization opportunities."
Holt, a music industry veteran, became head of MySpace Music in 2008 after leaving her post at MTV.
MySpace Music is a joint venture between parent company News Corp. and major record labels.
