How You Can Help Charities Through Social Networking

Friday October 30, 2009

Think of ways you can use social networking to help someone else. Other people did and they've accomplished amazing things.

"A week ago, a record number of status updates on Twitter and Facebook using the phrase "#BeatCancer" helped raise $70,000 for four non-profit cancer organizations." ~Benny Evangelista, San Fransisco Chronicle

That's not all, there are instances of people using different social networking media all over the Net to benefit charities. They're finding unique ways to raise money. Things that have never been tried or even thought of before.

My favorite example from Mr. Evengelista's article was how money was raised by selling a virtual crop on the popular Facebook game Farmville. Even companies like Haagen-Dazs and people like Perez Hilton are joining in to help out.

So, what idea can you come up with to help raise money for a worthy charity on your favorite social networking site?
