14 Scrabulous Alternatives on Facebook, What's Your Opinion?
For all you Scrabulous fans out there, I have found 14 Scrabulous alternatives on Facebook for you to play with. Many of them are different kinds of word games, but a couple of them are similar to Scrabulous.
Scrabulous has been taken off Facebook due to possible copyright infringement. This is not Facebook's fault. Perhaps the creators of Scrabulous should have tried a little harder to make Scrabulous different from Scrabble by Hasbro.
There's a new group on Facebook geared toward trying to get Scrabulous back on Facebook. If you're a hard core Scrabulous player, or just really like the game, you may want to join this group. At least go see what they have to say, you may be swayed to help, or not.
Here's what some of the bloggers around the Web are saying about Scrabulous being taken off of Facebook:
"The game returned several days later as Wordscraper, a redesigned and renamed game that's probably just different enough to keep Hasbro's lawyers away. And all the while, Facebook says that its only action was to forward Hasbro's complaint to the creators of Scrabulous." ~Carolyn McCarthy, the social
"Facebook games are dropping like flies" ~Stephen Ebert, ElectricPig
"Seems to me that this shows at least an attempt not to infuriate the fanbase by taking away the fun altogether, but it seems to have backfired among some fans who feel manipulated." ~Helen Walters, NEXT
What do you think? Should Scrabulous be put back up on Facebook? Or is Hasbro right in having them take it down?

Do you think Hasbro is doing the right thing by taking down Scrabulous? Do you think WordScraper is close enough to Scrabulous for you? What do you think of this whole issue?
I plan to boycott all Hasbro toys, card and board games - as do all of my friends. The corporate idiots unplugged Scrabulous in the middle of our games. Stupid action - to punish the consummer. Scrabulous rekindled interest in buying the Scrabble board game in a whole new generation. Instead of seeing a whole new marketing operation - they chose to flex their corporate muscle against two very clever game designers. Shame on Hasbro. BTW US copyrite law specifically excludes games - and Hasbro did not invent Scrabble.
Scrabulous was an excellent on-line game, granted with a Scrabble look, that is far better than Electronic Arts Scrabble game on FB. It introduced many enhancements to the original game - including the use of the SOWPODS dictionary. Wordscraper provides the same enhancements of Scrabulous but a different look, and player choice as to how to configure the board. It is great fun to play.
Boo! Hiss! Hasbro.
