Create A Web Site - FTP Clients and Web Page Editors

Sunday December 11, 2005

Create your site online or off. If you want to create it offline you will need to download a Web page editor and an FTP client. What are they and how are they used?

When you create a Web site you need to use a Web site editor. A lot of online Web site hosting services offer online Web site editors for you to use. If you aren't signed up with a hosting service that offers an online Web site editor then you will need to create your Web pages on your computer and then upload them to your hosting service, probably using FTP.

You can use the text editor that comes with Windows if you are using Windows and know how to code using HTML. It's not ideal though. You would do better do download a better HTML editor. If you don't want to use HTML there are Web site editors that will let you create Web pages without HTML.

After you create your Web pages you will need to FTP them to your hosting service. For this you will need an FTP client. Get the infomation from your hosting service on what to put into your FTP client and you will be ready to get started.
